Rebuilders question about risk

I am wondering about the risk-reward of NOT disassembling the rings and checking ring gaps on New Mauhle P & C sets? Taking the rings off new pistons has its risks and considering todays manufacturing processes and tolerances if it is really necessary. I'm inclined to only do one of the set. Comments?

I would check them, the last thing you want are rings that are too tight!! (end gap)

If you do it correctly with a ring expander tool, such as one made by Stahlwille or the domestic equivalent, there is no danger to the rings.

Call me OCD (go ahead) but every nut, bolt, washer or other part that goes into my engine has its dimensions measured and recorded by me. Once it's together, if I have any question about anything, it's easy to refer to my notebooks.

Even if the pistons were assembled in a Class 10,000 clean room in Germany (which they weren't) I bet they still have dust and whatnot on them. I would be surprised if you can't get some dirt off them with a clean-room wipe.

I started, I guess I'll keep at until I do em all.
