Camgrinder whereabouts?
I have been attempting to contact John Dougherty, ie camgrinder, for a few weeks now without success. Any information would be appreciated.
|
His voicemail says he was away and I bet he's now backlogged. Either that or he never came back from wherever he went.
Best bet is to keep trying |
All he needs to do is ship my cams and rockers and charge my credit card or give me a call and tell me. My overhaul is on hold. Is he OK? Shop burn down?, Earthdquake get him?, Mother in law problems? Anything?
Grrrrrr..... |
I spoke to John today, twice. Besides being short on billets, everything seems ok.
Call and leave a message. |
I have called and left messages, three a day plus emails. If you see him again tell him he has a very agitated customer who is in the dark about his parts. He told me the cams were done but the rockers were not. I shipped them to him on June 16th.

I'm sure he's just busy. I got worked up when he got behind on my cams too but as always when I did get him he was very professional, helpful and the work was top-notch. A little more patience and persistance I'm sure will pay off. John is an excellent resource and craftsman, he does seem to get behind sometimes though.

I received this email today and thought it might be entertaining.
John A Lewis wrote: I appreciate your post on Pelican but you seem to be the only person who he will talk too. Another thread has taken off under "techincal" as opposed to "Rebuild" sections with the same complaints. He is giving the Porsche Rebuild industry, which may include you or your friends, a bad name. He needs to clean his act up and communicate to his customers. We can be patient if we KNOW what the situation is. Whatever reputation he has is slipping away at a very fast rate. I am 71 and am too old to screw with this kind of stuff. If I die of a heart attack before I finish this project and leave my wife a pile of Porsche parts in the garage I am going to come back and haunt him and his family. You may not think you have an oar in this lake, but you have talked to him and it seems nobody else, that makes you a player now. John Lewis oldtee Hi John Thank you for your email. I haven't had a good laugh like that in quite a while. Your attempt at guilt by association and the colorful way you attempt to paint an entire industry with a single bush is a clever bit of sarcasm. The last bit where you attempt to enlist me in this clever little piece did not go unnoticed. It always feels heart warming when someone includes you in there dilemma. If by chance I misunderstood and you were actually being serious all I can say is "if a heart attach is eminent , you should spend more time with your wife and family and leave the Porsche rebuilding to those with the patience to complete the task. Cheers PS: If your plan for the after life is revenge, I would suggest that what's in your heart is how you will be judged. Revenge may be difficult to sneak past the gates. |
It was worth a try. I like back handed humor.
By the way I am as close to a heart attack and anyone else my age, how about you? And, IF there is an afterlife I will spend the time trying to do good. I don't care that you publixhed a private note, but you might want to look into your own heart. |
Unfortunately this thread and my unreplied email inquiries compell me to send my followers elsewhere for refinishing, even though Dougherty is driving distance for me.
That said, I LOVE John's wit! Whether he was being backhanded or sarcastic I could just hear that "whip-crack" in the air. Nice to see someone be decisive and opinionated without being "keyboard-brave" or insulting. |
"I don't care that you publixhed a private note, but you might want to look into your own heart.'
It's what you do in the dark that determines character. I love to shine a light and watch the creatures scurry. If you are suggesting that the desire to bring out the truth is somehow damaging my heart I appreciate your concern and I'll take it under advisement. |
This forum is not John Dougherty's answering service.
