Aw shucks Steve. :)

Just trying to learn as much as I can about these engines. We are all "standing on the shoulders of giants" in debt to guys like Bruce Anderson and Wayne Dempsey who took the time to document the process and pitfalls in their excellent books.

As far as I can tell a place like Pelican's engine forum is unique in the world of Porsche, you can't find this kind of specific information or community anywhere else. We have tried to make it a place that welcomes the greenest amateur or the most seasoned professional where everyone can benefit.

Now if there was a place to talk about four-cam engines. . . :)

I'll reiterate my PM to John and second the above notions that were so eloquently put. Thanks, man!

just made me think of a great place in CT. KAM motors in waterbury or danbury (can't remember). I went up to their shop a few times when I was living in CT during my college years. 4 cam gurus from what I heard. I think the guy who owned it was an old porsche guy from the 50s. His son Kevin was a good guy as well. (also big VW guys...air and watercooled...thats why I was there. I was/am a big watercooled VW guy as well) Always had 4 cam cars in the shop...wild to see those cars in not the nicest of areas. I mean like 550s and carreras just sitting around like they were Beetles..... great stuff. I could spend hours there just looking at stuff. I remember the 73 daytona Brumos/ Gregg poster they had in the shop. I told them I lived in Jacksonville and had met Hurley several times and done some artwork for Brumos/Bob Snodgrass. They thought that was pretty neat. I think its still there, but different owners. Sorry to ramble.....

Fire his ass !

Then he'll have more time to finish that car he's been teasing us with pictures of for the past year.

I didn't say he was fast, I said he was good. :)

I used to say the same thing about our all powerful Asst Principal in High School, if you didn't kiss up he could and would rip your head off at the drop of a hat. Is this whats going on here?? Did you get in a little trouble or maybe plan too??

sww914 08-19-2008 06:22 PM

I'm sure I will, I always do.
I've been black flagged so many times at the track that I got bored with that and I even managed to get one of my students black flagged as a result of me.
I had my hand on the driprail trying to hang on. He had 5 point belts and a race seat on his side.

Thank you John.
With my first project build coming, this is my first stop in the morning.
I appreciate the quality and depth of information and opinions here.
Your hands on the wheel and your own contributions never go unnoticed.
