Timing Chain case cover gasket

Here is a question I have been wondering about:

The victor reinz timing chain case cover gaskets (large black ones) seem to be round on one side and flat on the other side.

Do you put the flat side towards the motor or towards the cover? Does it matter?

Kirk

I think they will only go on one way anyhow? They get rounded on one edge when they stamp them out.
