Cam Characteristics
 
Can anyone share information or point me somewhere that gives info on the torque and HP levels of the varying 911 cams?

Specifically I'm looking for comparisons between S, mod S, DC 42, DC 44

Where peak hp and torque is made through the rev range.

It really depends on the engine they are going in. S cams typically have a high, narrow powerband (5000 to 7000+ rpm in a 2.0 litre for example). In the same engine the DC40 (mod-s) will run from 4000 to 7000+ rpm, about 1000 rpm wider. It will also have more peak torque and HP.
The DC43 and DC44 cams are normally on a wide lobe center vs. the S and DC40 (mod-s). I usually grind these for bigger engines, 3.0-3.5 litres with some type of aftermarket EFI.
I have made a few sets of 102 lobe center DC43 cams. These would have a similar powerband vs the normal DC40 with some added valve lift. I would use the DC43-102 over the standard DC40 if the customer had a ported set of heads with better high lift airflow.

John thats a big help. I'm heading towards something that just a little bit more than a mod-s for a 2.3 twin plug engine. Happy to do the extra head work if that helps to achieve around the goal of 200 hp.

Can I ask where peak HP and torque are achieved in the DC43-102 cams?

Depends on throttle size, compression, how big the ports are etc.
How high are you going to turn it? You are probably better off with a DC60, or maybe a higher lift DC62 on 102 centers.

Hmmm...I am using a set of DC44s on 102 centers on basically the same motor: a hot 2.3L. What is the general difference between the DC62s and DC44s other than the extra 12 hundredths on the intake side? I see the durations are different; to what effect?

If I remember right, I think your intake system was choked down a little? We went with more mid range power , than all out top end. Basically you have the same exh lobe, with a little smaller intake lobe. My best guess would be 5 to 6 hp would all you would gain from the 62's over the 44's if the heads/intake let it make power past 7500 rpm. when are you going to have it running?

My intake system is no longer choked down as you said the cams would make rising power up to 7800 RPM; good stuff. Heads/MFI will indeed make power through 8K; I'd rather have a little more shove and give up 5 HP on top. I think Cam should buy cams like mine... :)

I'll have it running no sooner than early winter.
