engine stand

i am about to drop the engine from my 77 911's. i was wondering what the best set up for an engine stand is, and if i need the adapter to support the engine. i also heard that it is bad to keep engines on the stands for long periods of time from bmw guys saying it can bend something

I use a "U" style stand (OTC 2012). It is built like a tank.
Combined with the P201 type of engine yoke, I have no concerns about leaving a 2.4/2.7 hooked up to mine.
I place a piece of plywood across the base rails to support a drip pan to catch oil and keep thing handy. Both items are listed here:

BTW, Welcome!

Regards -Ernie
