Look What I Found Inside Cylinder #6
Based on low compression and a bad leak down test on #5 and #6 , I pulled the engine and tore into the right side.
This is what I found: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1221164038.jpg The heads were dirty but looked OK otherwise: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1221164079.jpg The good news is that the Mahle cylinders look good, the bad news is the top and oil control rings were broken: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1221164162.jpg None of the Dilavar studs were broken or pulled and I was able to extract all the intake and exhaust studs on the three heads. Now to send the heads off to be cleaned and tested. Mark |
What kind of noise where you hearing obviously on the right side? I"m about to do a 4-5-6 investigation, but my noise was a rolling rattle. The bottom end sounds relatively smooth even on the revving up to a medium speed. So I'm thinking it's top end. I'm going to post my tear down "progress as I go" a little later today. Good luck to you on your dilemma.

There was no noise. The engine ran strong with a slight miss when the plug would foul. I was using about a quart of oil with each fill up.
