Expandable Oil Return Tubes
I'm going to replace my Expandable Oil Return Tubes and I'm not sure which ones to buy. Wayne has two types: Bespoke Aluminum and OEM steel type, any suggestions?
Also, as an act of preventive maintenance should I replace my exhaust head studs with Waynes new non-corrosive shiny ones? Or leave well enough alone. Engine is in car. Thanks! |
OEM steel oil return tubes are not expandable. I don't think there is an OEM expandable tube. I think any of the expandable types work fine if you are careful on the instalation.
I wouldn't touch my exhaust studs until I needed to remove my heat exhangers. Even then I'd probably leave them alone. If you find some that are corroded when you remove the exchangers then maybe replace them. If you break one you'll be very unhappy with yourself. -Andy |
OEM one piece steel....901-107-351-01-M260
OEM 2 piece steel........930-107-040-01-M59 |
I like the aluminum ones. sometimes it takes a bit of pushing/pulling to get them seated using clamps, etc. and the aluminum are much stronger.

As far as preference goes, I prefer to use the OEM expanding oil tubes, 930-107-040-01-M59 because the o-rings seem to be easier to locate, being they are a genuine Porsche part, instead of being an after market offering. Tony.

I put in the Weltmeister expandable aluminum tubes several years and numerous track days ago - no drips, no runs, no errors....
