A. What is it made of? Will a magnet stick to it or not?

I can't make out any fine details, being the picture appears to be out of focus.
Is the part that you found actually magnetic or magnetized? As in, it will attract other items, or is it just being attracted to your magnet in the drain plug??

It is not magetized but is ferrous so it attracted to a magnet.. I'm thinking it was intended to be there..

was it in the engine sump or tank. It really shouldn't be able to show up in the bottom of the engine because there is a screen between the plug and the bottom of the engine. If it was in the tank then it came from outside and was dropped into the tank.

Nope, I'm pretty sure it's an extension of the magnet on the oil drain plug, looks like what Chris Bennet posted
