engine tranny question

I have a 70 911 T
We are reinstalling the engine and the tranny
Once installed the clutch pedal is pretty hard and when the clutch is pressed the white plastic coupler that goes into the tranny fork breaks.

Now the car has everything new from the pedal to the clutch disc. The parts are correct but for some reason the assembly is not working properly

Any ideas

This is a 911/01 tranny with the fork that was only made for 2 years
