changing non mfi 911S cams into 911S MFI cams
Guys,
I am getting ready to put together a 2.4S motor with MFI. The only problem left before going ahead and putting it together is that I have a set of non mfi 911S cams and need a set of MFI 911S cams. I spoke to a sales rep at Webcam today, and she advised that Webcam can simply weld on the extra drive so it will work for the MFI. Price is only $150 which is a lot cheaper than buying new ones. Has anyone done this? Is they any downside? |
Welding works but why not just tap them and bolt on an extension?
|
It does need to be timed AFAIK, it may be worth it to just pay the guy. I wouldn't know where to set it?
|
Camgrinder may sell you a bung that bolts on to the end of your cam. you will need access to a lathe to machine a pocket and tap two holes. No timing of the bung is necessary, that is done with the pulleys. I have converted a couple of cams to mfi with no problems.

Don't have access to a lathe. Considering the amount $125-150), I would just assume let a seasoned cam specialist do the work. Thanks for the input.
