Restored Cast-Iron SWB Distributors
Wow. Every once in a while you run across somebody who REALLY knows original details. Ed Fall, who runs a business called Vintage Werks in Sandy, Utah, where the phone number is (801) 944-9777 (I know I'll be asked so I'm getting it out there up front) and the web site is www.vintagewerks.com, is just such a guy.
After a long conversation about the correct Bosch date codes and the differences among early cast iron distributors and curves, I had him do a pair of 001's and an 006 that I had on the shelf. One of the 001s was perfect and will be used for concours, the other had a scratch in the badge and will be the "driver." The one with the red paint on the badge was a spare for parts, but it is in working condition so I had him do it also (I'll paint the badge black when I have time). Anyway, enough chin music, here are the pictures. I think he did a great job, these are like new, and he enclosed a computer-generated chart of the actual advance compared to the factory specs. Which is the way I would do it if I had a distributor machine, that's about the highest compliment I can pay. Can't wait to get these in the car. The dark spots are where oil leaked out during shipping, no big deal. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1224210091.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1224210116.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1224210137.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1224210166.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1224210190.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1224210213.jpg Ed is a pleasure to deal with and a geniunely nice guy. |
Thumbs up for Ed Fall! He rebuilt my Solex fuel pump to like new!

I have an 002 yellow tag, what colour should the arms that grab the cap
be. Mine are black currently but I can't quite tell from your pictures what yours are, some of them look yellow cad and some look grey. andy |
Andy, they are all black oxide, even on an 002.
