S or 964 cams drop-in replacement for 3.2?
Will a 964 cam present a clearance problem for 3.2 Motronic 9.5 CR pistons? I keep hearing about them being used in these engines - would they require any changes other than a fuel/timing remap? How do the driving characteristics compare to the stock cams in a U.S. 3.2?
What about S cams? In his book, Wayne talks about the merits of an S cam in larger engines such as the 3.2/3.4/3.5, but he also indicates that they would cause piston/valve contact with a Motronic piston. So, would (or would not) the S cams be recommended for an otherwise stock 3.2 engine? Last edited by porschenut; 11-09-2008 at 07:52 AM.. |

S cams won't like your common plenum intake, and you will run into valve clearance issues.
964 cams have a very similar power curve to the stock 3.2 curve, motor feels the same to drive but with a wee bit more power. Cheers
