My "new" 70S
 

Finally got around to trade one of my F-cars plus $$$$$ for a 70S.

The car is originally blutorange/tangerine but the indish rot is too nice to alter at this stage, maybe later... I will change the front suspension pan this winter, its been patched a few times..

Very happy with the car but would be happy to get some more info on engine.
Think it is 911.101.102.0R maybe 901.xxxxx.0R
It is a replacement case I think, absolutely no engine number (and not grinded)

Engines that end with ....0R, I dont find info about them.. any ideas?

The engine case is from what I understand sand cast aluminum. Any information about how to further nail down the engine would be nice. :)

The engine block in your car is from a 65-67 model.
The engine number would be located on the vertical boss that helps support the fan ring on the passenger side of the engine.
The engine type number (which tells us what the internals would have been originally at the factory) would be located on the horizontal space just to the left of the passenger side chain housing. It would say something like 901/03 or similar
The numbers you are asking about are casting designations- not part numbers or serial #s
Your right rear quarter panel has been replaced: Porsche does not leave the edge seam unfinished like your car shows

Thanks, good info there. The engine does not have a number, I know where it should be and it is blank.. I did not find the engine type number at that space either. No numbers.

.. regarding the rear quarter, the photo does not tell the truth, the seam is exatcly like the left and it is finished exactly like my other 911's.. there is no double seam or so, just a variation in color/black coating. ( i take your observation was from the engine photo?)

Engine has nothing where eg my 74 carrera have 911/93..

1970 911S has a mag case with MFI. Also trans was mag not Aluminum. I note from the underside of the engine that the cylinders are cast Iron as they are rusting. 911S would have aluminum cylinders. Seems the engine and trans are non-S. Can you post a pic of the top of the engine compartment?

Yes, the engine is not 70S.

Gearbox has a serial number that definitly is 70 S box, but it has dogleg and seem to have fluegplatz gear or thereabouts..

Engine was told to be a '68S NOS case buillt up with 2.2 cylinders etc, pulls and revs very very well but I have no idea whats inside. It has webers and pulls to 8000 rpm without complaints :)

A correct engine would be nice in the future, but right now it is a fun car.

TRE Cup is referring to the picture of the oil thermostat/filter console area. The edge of the rear quarter panel, that runs parallel to the breather hose, has a double edge.

ok, it seems like a double egde but it is not.
There is a wrap of filler and a layer of flaked paint that makes this illusion, i double checked after it was mentioned and I know how a double edge looks (i used to do a quite a lot of bodywork.. ) the photo does however give this impression.
