race headers for 2L

hello all.

I'm hearing about some hot exhausts..rumours of 10Hp and wider torque spread...very useful on an all-out 2L..

Anyone know anything?

Thanks
David

Ya.. in the last two weeks there have been a few "headers" threads...

Basically bring your wallet... how fast to you need to spend?

Thanks, Tim.

Yes, I read that..looks like no-one is revealing the "secret" then..these little 2L motors seem to be getting an exceptional benefit from these new-ish header designs..which are now available from several suppliers it seems.

Part, maybe all of the trick looks to be primary length..anyone know what they are finding best?..and the three-two-one config also looks important.

Yea, since the secret is different for each individual engine. Mass produced headers get close..

To get power to the nth degree be prepared to spend a bit of time on the phone with someone who will input every spec of your engine.. i.e. they want to know intake specs so they can build your exhaust...

One of the "tricks" with small displacement engines is the anti-reversion cone.
This is a short cone (big end towards head....small end pointing down towards muffler)....with the big end at inside diameter of header pipe and the "small" end at about 10 - 15% reduction of the overall diameter of the pipe.
We found several HP in the Formula Ford engines using these.
It would not surprise me to find the same thing in some of the new headers for Porsche.

Hi David,

These little engines do much better with longer primaries otherwise you have very little mid-range power,...:)

We've had very good luck with a custom set of George's headers he makes exclusively for us.
