911 idle too low? Is there such thing?
After reading forums, getting a good book, and tuning the idle circuit on my Webers the engine runs much smoother. So much that it was possible to significantly reduce my idle speed to a very gentle, but unwavering, pace. How low can the idle be without risking some kind of unwanted side effect? Some people feel that low engine speeds can result in undue friction and internal wear. Does this pan out? It's been a while since I've fooled around with these things and it sure is nice to know that there are folks out there willing to help.

950 RPM.
Lower than that may not provide sufficient flow to various moving parts which have lubrication requirements independent of RPM.

Thanks John. I'll give that a shot. What amazed me was how smooth the old Webers could feed the 2.7 at idle, like just so calm, almost sleepy.
