2.7 cams in 2.2 E?
Merry Almost Christmas
I have my 2.2 E engine apart to Timesert and install ARP head studs. Car is a track car only for PCA GT-6 and Vintage. Have the option of installing 1976 2.7 cam assemblies but cannot locate timing specs for the 2.7 cams. Does anyone have 2.7 cam specs? Is this a better choice than the E cams? Thanks Chris |
No, CIS cams are way too conservative. The E will give more top end and midrange pulling power.
CIS is a terrible performance fuel injection system, it is made for emissions and mileage. The E with MFI will zing to redline. |
Thanks Max

Chris,
If this is a race car, there are far better choices than E cams, much less those mild 2.7 CIS ones,...:) Ultimately, your selection depends on what pistons you have. |
I think an early S would be a good cam for a race car. That is what I have in my 2.7. There are some aftermarket choices as well. Steve is an excellent resource for info.

Merry Christmas Chris
good to see you again the above advice is good you want E (you have them) or better cams (if you want to spend the money) thos CIS cams are not the ticket if you have the money, consider S or better (GE60/80?) brant |
Thanks everyone.
I think I'll stay with the 2.2E cams. My longer term plan is to sell this 2.2 and upgrade to a 3.0 so saving my upgrade money for that motor, assuming the market ever recovers. See you on the track in the Spring. Chris |
