carb venturi's

I'm building some carbs right now. I'm going to make my own venturi's for my carbs. They are zeniths. I'm a machinist so I have everything i need to do it. I'm curious though about the taper in the venturi's. Do i have to hold that taper or isn't it that important.

Important
Delta p, Bernoulli effect etc. It tried years ago and unless I duplicated the Venturi design it would not take throttle.

You can use Weber chokes (Venturis) and just make a spacer. I think it was 2mm.

You need to have the smallest diameter at the opening of the venturi tube. The higher speed air in the restricted section will create a vacuum to draw the gas out of the venturi tube. I made 32mm chokes for my Zeniths. This is for a 2.0 liter racing engine.
