Leaking oil cooler

Folks-

Motor is back out to deal with persistent leaks. This time it appears to be the on motor oil cooler--where it mounts to the block. I used new o/ring/gaskets/tubes; I Time-Certed the studs that the cooler mounts to, and I torqued it to the spec in Wayne's book. It appears to be coming out of the seam between the case and the cooler rather than any crack in the cooler. Any other ideas on stopping the leak ?

A radiator shop should be able to hydrostatically test the oil cooler. I would test it to 125psi which is slightly above my oil safety relief of 116psi. If it is good then you may have a bad o-ring. It happens. I used the green viton rings like in your oil return tubes and no leaks.

Send it to Pacific Oil Cooler. www.oilcoolers.com. They can fix it, blast it, pressure test it and certify correct operation. I had mine done a year ago, it was about $150.

I found this while rebuilding my '86 3.2 top end. I think it's worth checking.

E Sully... thanks for this reminder... I almost forgot to address this point you posted.
Do you know if it is ok to use jb weld to fill these areas on the case or do we have to use that rtv material which I guess is a silicone ???
Thanks,
Bob
