Wonder if 2R motor I have sitting is undamaged

I have 2R motor(69t). It has not been running in ? years. PO removed the webers and it has probably gotten wet. It still spins though. Reading experts say to others to use the 7R and forget about the 2R as well as other old engines (ie 4 cam) maybe all old motors get to this point, my question is it better to try to make this a running motor for the mere purpose of gaining more 911 experience (and having a 2.0 motor for a future narrow body 69 911 as well) or not?

I can't imagine the rings are good on this motor.

I cant imagine the ecomony getting much better soon either, so not sure if it is comming out from under its tarp any time soon.

There is no way to know without opening it up to take a look. If you start it as is, it may be fine or it might self destruct and ruin whatever good parts remain.

my opinion is this:
1. sell it as is, OR
2. if it is a #'s matching engine to as car you own, than it may be of more value to you for originality purposes OR,
3. if you have the time & above #1 & 2 don't interest you, tare it down to the case, no need to open case unless decide to part out the entire engine, as I believe if you try to start it the odds are against you that at a minimum the rings ars marginal and more harm will be done to the parts rendering them all junk.

Enjoy!
Bob
