End Gap
 

Hi There.

I have question aboat end gap. I have a new set of 92 mm cylinders and new JE Pistion. I know that when setting this up it's werry importend to check the end gap, I have found out that my cylinders need a end gap on 0,41mm. on top ring. Is this right?

The car is for sunday driving :-)

Do anyone have somthing to say aboat that?

I will answer this for my forfathers fine country. Porsche standard spec is for min of +.3mm to +.45 with a max wear of 1.0mm. I know you are near the mid point of wear exceeding the intial installation but I think you will be ok. This most importand is the ring side clearance which should as close to .05mm. It sounds like you have been given aftermarket rings which are ok, next time I would have the JE's ring lands cut to the stock ring package from Porsche.
your situation will work fine but "caution" use a lite amount of WD 40 when installing don't over oil the piston skirts when installing, it will take forever for you to seat the rings to the barrels and you will have a smoker.

What aboat using 2-stroke oil? insted of WD-40??

I know this sounds strange but I assemble the wrist pins with lube and really don't put anything on the skirts, if it squeeks a little while I am setting the cams I shoot a little WD 40 in the bore. What ever you decide to use just use very little of it and use the lightest grade you can find, a spray works well because it is very light.
