Prefered shops for head work

List who does what and your experiences. This might be of use to a few of us who are trying to decide where to send our precious bits off for services.

Ps I hit search and found a bunch of ideas but it would be nice to get fresh info all in one place.

Location

It may be helpful if you added your location so some guys could chime in if they are close. There is a great shop (been doing this for 20+ yrs) in Lake Isabella, CA. The shop is Competition Engineering and the owners name is Walt.

Great guy. If he does not pick up the phone, just leave a message and he will call you back. 1/2 the time he picks up the phone while your leaving the message. I have been to his shop and he can do some impressive things. Any kind of head work you want and also the crank all the way to porting/polishing and assembly.

Best of luck,

I have been using Competition Engineering since 1974 for all my head work. Some of the reasons I have stayed with CE is because often I have an idea about what I want done to a cylinder head based on peoples suggestions, reading articles, and "my bigger is better idea", CE will explain why idea might not be the best. CE has over 35 years of experience in rebuilding and performance modifications of air cooled cylinder heads and engine case machining/modifications. There work is very precise and the end product always exceeds my expectations.
Another well know business is Ollie's Automotive Machining. I have used Ollie's for over 25 years. I send all my crankshaft and rod work to them. Also very precise work.

Bob at Anchor Atlantic. Search here with the terms "Grace Slick" for some nice photos of Bob's work.

I use Verdan Tool- they have been around for 40+ years and turn out a great product- weather it be a basic head job or a pair of $10,000 custom cylinder heads.
They did my whole motor including matching my 3.3 intake ports to 3.2 plenum specs- flawless

Thanks for the input so far and any more are welcome.
I have a few race bikes to prep this spring before tearing into the 3.3
