Should flywheel/pressure plat spin?

I'm trying to do a valve adj. on my SC and have the motor up on the stand. The motor was out to replace exhaust and seals etc. Not a rebuild.

-Spark Plug are out
-Rotating in Clockwise direction

Question: I'm trying to rotate the engine via the alt pulley but it wont budge. I see that I may have contact with the flywheel/pressure plate because of bolt clearance. Should the pressure plate spin as I turn the motor by hand or do I have something else wrong? The throwout bearing spins freely.

It goes like the old that old song about the knee bone being connected to the leg bone....

The pressure plate's connected to the, flywheel, the flywheel's connected to the, crankshaft, the crankshaft's connected to the, pully, the pully's connect to the, fan belt, the fan belts connected to the, Alternator pully.......

Kyle, as long as there isn't a mounting bolt or nut locking the flywheel you should be able to spin it from the pulley end. If you use the alternator nut put a little finger pressure on the belt. With it in the stand, you could also use a flat blade on the ring gear and yes the pressure plate should turn when you turn the engine over.
Good luck

If the Alt pulley spins and the belt doesn't you can put tension on the belt by pushing the belt in with your hand. Sometimes I pinch both belts to get it moving. should move with the plugs out.

got it, thanks.

One of my washers I was using as a spacer was pinching the edge of the flywheel and holding it place.
