Head Stud Question

After torquing my head down on Cylinder 1 to measure the Deck Height when I went to remove the head one of the Head Studs came off with the Allan head nut on it. I can't seem to remove the Alan head nut, placed it in a vice with a rubber cushion on the stud but it didn't budge.

Can I Just tighten the Stud with the Alan head nut on it to the proper torque when I assemble the Head and Cylinder?

Thanks
dog

I am no expert, but if no luck after trying penetrant and heat, I would cut the nut off, clean the stud, and reinstall with a new nut.

What year? I hope not a mag case!

No, not a MAG case, a 1979 SC case

I think if you meet the height specifications for the heads you should be okay. Might want to make sure you did not cross-thread the barrel nut onto the stud.

You could try to "double nut" the case end of the stud and clamp the nuts in a vise then undo the barrel nut.

If this doesn't work I'd get another stud and barrel nut to replace it. Any engine shop should have an old stud to match whatever you have. I hope you replaced all the lower studs (they are the dreaded old dilivar studs).
