Looking for a mechanic in Providence, RI for my '82 SC
Hi everyone,
I'm new here and looking forward to contributing to the forum. I looking forward to getting my '82 SC back on the road for the spring. Does anyone know a good mechanic in the Providence, RI area? Most of my work at this point is pretty minor (brake job, tune up, etc.). Thanks. Please let me know. Trevor http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1237941646.jpg |
Hi Trevor
There is German Motors on N Main st in Providence, Beard Automotive in Middletown, and a few others. There's also Autosport Engineering in Stow, MA...and Randolph Racing in Stoughton, MA. When I lived in providence I'd frequently see multiple 911s at German Motors, but I have no experience with them. Are you in the city proper? There's a whole bunch of local enthusiasts... Dan |
take it to Metric Motors in Seakonk , MA... accross from the Seakonk Speedway ~ 2 tenths east of the speedway. I've known the owner since highschool in the 70's. The owner is Tom Mayo and is THE BEST wrench for ALL foreign rides. 508 336 8480 tell him I told you to call... my name is Bob Fleming.
Best of luck! |
Thanks for the referrals, guys! I haven't really had much time to work on the car due to my workload, but I'm going to change that this year!
I live in East Greenwich, so I'm close to Providence. Please let me know if any of you Porsche fan get together locally. It's always good to meet up with others that have a passion for Porsches! Thanks again, Trevor |
Welcome Trevor! As far as I know there isn't a RI or Providence group, but there's a NorthEast group http://forums.pelicanparts.com/northeast-us-ny-nj-ct-ma-me-nh-ri-vt/ We should come up with a Saturday morning coffee meet place for periodic gatherings of local Rhody/Southern MA Porshephiles. It would need to have decent parking and reasonable access to either I-95 or I-195.

Yes, Let's do that! A couple more weeks and it will be warmed up and we'll have the cars out.
There is a good place by me right off 95 and Route 4 in East Greenwich. There is a Panera bread there with good breakfast and coffee. Let me know if that works or if there is another place to go that you would prefer. |
Bob,
Thanks for the referral to Tom May at Metric Motors in Seakonk. I called him today and I'm taking the SC over to him next week. Thanks again, Trevor |
you'll do well by him Trevor!!
He really knows his stuff... wait till you see the cars he has there... you could see a lambo pull in, or an old beater 2002tii or a diesel 220d or a 930 turbo or any other european cars. He was sent to the BMW school in Germany 1 or 2x in his dealer days. He works mostly on Porsche, BMW & Mercedes as will probably be the cars there for service. Best of luck and my suggestion is to listen closely to his advice... he knows the most practicle way to approach anything but in the end, he will do what you want or ask him to do. Bob |
