Diagnostics equipment advice anyone?
Hi, I have come to the conclusion that I need to get equipment to measure co / emissions and air fuel ratio. Would appreciate some feedback from experienced users.
My goal is to adjust and tune my carb and injection systems. I would like to get an instrument that could do both co & af but it is hard to find something at a nice price. I am considering the Innovate (I or II) for the AF and perhaps ebay for an older heathkit or similar analog analyzer for the co/emissions. Anyone have recommendations on other / better / combi instruments?

A gunson gastester will measure CO and not cost an arm and a leg. You can find them on eBay, not sure if you can even buy one new anymore. It uses a probe you simply stick up the exhaust pipe, perhaps a plus for you if you want to use it on a lot of different cars.
The LM1/2 are AFR meters that use a wideband O2 sensor. Would be harder to switch between several cars. These lend themselves more to permanent installation in a single car. The benefit there is that you get a continual readout of your AFR as you drive. |

gunson colortune is worth having imo. coupled with some sort of fancy schmancy exhaust analyzer you can probably get pretty darned good.
