Carrera Chain tensioner noise
 

I think I have a leaking chain tensioner. I get the "chain across a trash can lid" sound on engine deceleration. The other possibilities are broken ramp or stretched chain. I'll know when I get in there.

But, anybody know of someone who makes a rebuild kit? I checked with Glenn here at Pelican and they don't supply one.

How much oil should I expect to see drain out of the cam chain housing once I take the cover off?

UPDATE; A couple of hours later...
I have the tensioner out and I can compress it with my hands. But, before I assume it's dead, I would like to try and bleed it again to make sure it's getting oil. I'm a little unclear even after spending an hour going through old threads how to do this. I assume the tension needs to be completely submerged in oil? After that do I simply (and slowly) squeeze and release the tensioner to pump oil into it?

If you can compress the tensioner by simply squeezing it by hand then they need to be rebuilt. Let us know what kind of tensioner you have whether pressure fed (newer) or older.

typically when they are functioning properly and primed with oil, you can only compress them slowly and in a vise.

I recently rebuilt some older turbo tensioners and the only way to compress them by hand was before they were primed with oil.
