1985 porsche 911 3.2 oil pressure priming
I removed and refinished the engine on my 1985 porsche 911. I parked the car about 2 years ago and the engine had great oil pressure and everything worked great. After two year went by i removed the engine and drained the oil from the the case and Reservoir. i turned over the motor and pumped out all the extra nasty black oil about 3 months ago. now i have installed everyting back in the car and put 10 quarts of oil in the Reservoir and hooked up all the line. I have turned over the car several time to build oil pressure but i can not seem to build any. Does any one have any techniques used to prime the pump again?
 Here is a pic of the engine after sandblasting and repainting and powder coating! only replaced a few sensors, plugs, cap, wires, and set valves. please help! |

The oil pump is pretty much self-priming as long as there is oil in the tank and there are no other issues.
 Just pull the DME relay and crank the engine until you register oil pressure on the gauge.

I'm getting ready to do the same thing myself in a couple of weeks. Pulling the DME stops everything like spark, fuel, etc. is this correct?
