M64 questions

Hi everyone, I don't post regularly as I am not a Porsche owner just yet, however I hope you can help me.
I am currently looking for a 911 project in particular a 3.0 or 3.2, a couple of days ago a friend informed me of a damaged M64 that may be for sale, from what I hear the engine fell from a forklift and damaged the cases, but as it fell flat, the bolt on's and internals may be OK. My question to you is can the heads and possibly the barrels from the 3.6 fit the earlier cars, and if the internals are ok can I perform a full swap of all the parts using the earlier cases?
Your help will be appreciated.

3.6 is 3.6 and larger only but the turbo remained 3.3 through the 964
