Snaped oil line restrictor in case

Hi everyone

After reading Wayne's rebuild book (which is great by the way) I decided to install a Camshaft Oil Line Restrictor Fitting Adapter Kit from our host and went to install. On one side there were no problems. However on the other, I barely put any pressure on the nut and it snapped in half leaving the thread in the hole.

I imagine it wouldn't be to hard to remove with an easy-out (i'm guessing it was a faulty fitting) however I am concerned that shavings may enter the case.... Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Cheers

Roland

What nut? There is a M12x1.5 banjo bolt that goes through the banjo fitting into the restrictor.

The restrictor has snapped John....

Use heavy grease on the ez-out so any shavings it makes biting on the interior of the restrictor will stick to it and not fall down inside. Vacuum the hole when you are done, you will pull the oil out of the cam spraybar but the orifices are pretty small. Finally, stick a magnet down the hole to catch anything that may have come off. The cam tower is aluminum so it should only pick up the chips if any.

That's about all you can do without pulling the cam tower off.

BTW the restrictors were for 964s which had a different oil pump and squirters, I don't use them on my engine. Others say they haven't had any problems.

i would think that the threaded part will be loose, so just use a small easyout in it's opening and see how it goes, before drilling.

hold a vacuum nozzle next to the restrictor as you wind it out?
