Oil Cooler Thermostat Orientation
I took the oil thermostat out and replaced the O-Ring. Then realized that I forgot to notice which way it goes back in. I see a high galley in the block (right side facing the back of the motor) and a low galley (left side). The thermostat has a high port and a low port. I assumed that the port matches the galley? Otherwise it looks like a "flow blocking" situation.

Regardless, i the thermostat can only fit one way on the studs

As Bruce says, they only go in one way. The engineers were thinking of the engine room on a Friday in the summer after lunchtime. . .
