sc views from sump and valve covers
Not looking to post a puzzle, but just wondering if i can tell anything from these pictures i took from the sump and valve covers. this is an sc with 75k and unknown history, dirty and some surface rust, but drives very well. wondering if any of the wear marks look out of place or surfaces look discolored or any other signs of trouble. a few lower valve cover studs were rusty and needed replacing but no broken head studs fell out. sent oil off for analysis but no particles in the sump screen. engine was in bad need of valve adjustment though. sorry for all the photos. thanks for your input

looks like the oil was changed regularly. There is rust on the oil return tubes and looks like orange seals so the engine hasnt been apart in the last 12 to 15 years since the green seals were started to show up in the rebuild kits
If the studs are holding, drive it... Bruce |
Nice pics.
Looks pretty healthy to me. |
Looks like a Taiwan headmark on the chain box nut suggesting a prior rebuild. What exactly is the marking on the nut?
|
It's pretty clear that this one has been apart before judging from the difference in the cam tower nuts shown in the 3rd and 5th pics.

Really,
The nice looking nut is covered in oil and the other is .................. |
Looks pretty normal to me....... Real nice pics!.......... I agree with Tom139 about the tower nuts. Maybe you got lucky and someone has changed the cylinder studs
