Can this fan be saved?
The back side of one of my fan blades took a hit from something... not sure what... not sure when. I just noticed it when I had stuff apart for PM.
![]() ![]() Should I just leave it, have it "fixed," replace with the $330 OEM fan, or with Supertec's hard anodized, series 7000 aluminum fan (how much is that Henry?) Thx, JB PS: I'd rather just leave it, but that's the cheap in me speaking....

buy a good used one i have seen these marks before and i think its from someone holding the fan while they try and break the nut loose. i dont like the crack in the pic. if to much of the blade breaks i would think the out of balance would take out the bearings in the Alt.
cheers ed

Its a piece of wall art now...
At the RPMs the fan spins at while haulling you are asking for that crac to propagate to failure, and when it does its going to take something else with it.

The split is on the back side of the blade from someone holding it against the torque of trying to loosen the nut on the alt. Peen it flat again (carefully) dress it off and stop drill the crack. You can run it till you find a replacement somewhere........... It might be out of balance a bit but not enough to hurt anything at this point. Keep your eye on the crack and make sure it's not traveling on you after you drill it...........
