Question on SC cams replacements.....

I'm in the middle of an engine rebuild for a 3.0 liter SC. And it was suggested to replace the SC OEM cams with 964 cams instead. Subsequently a pair of 964 cams were purchased and upon arrival was discovered to be severely damaged (see picture). The gentleman from Texas who supplied these cams readily refunded the money.

My experience with 964 cams was limited to SC cams regrind to 964 spec and have never used these OEM 964 cams before. These OEM 964 cams have a steering drive as seen in the picture . I've been informed to cut it or install as is by knoking off the end seal of the cam tower.

What is the best option if I decide to use these OEM 964 cams? Any suggestions, tips, recommendation is highly appreciated.

Lastly, DC-13 cams were suggested as a better choice than the above. Any thought to offer? Thanks.

Tony

I read your post several times...
Are you suggesting that you are going to try and use the cams in the picture above? You are aware that your car needs two cams and not three?

Please reach out to Dougherty Racing Cams. John Dougherty is one of da' best in the da' bidness.
