Ring End Gap

Does anyone have a good tutorial (link pointer) etc for how to set the ring end gap. Advice etc.. would be much appreciated. Particularly for the diy without special tools etc.

The JE pistons have a good write-up on determining the proper ring gap. The rotary style ring file works great and they are available even at NAPA (for < $100 IIRC). A couple words of advice. 1- Sneak up on the desired ring gap. Too many folks start "grinding" er filing away and the next thing they know is that the gap is now to large. 2 - Buy a nice set of fine honing stones to take the burrs off of the freshly filed ring gap before installing them on the piston.

thanks... a trip to napa is in the cards tonight. I figured this is one of those tasks that has to be very methodical and done a little bit at a time.. measure twice cut once.
