2.7 oil pump cleaning
Hi All, what,s the best way of cleaning my 2.7 oil pump, the pump sat on the work bench of the garage that was going to rebuild the engine , along with all the other parts of the engine, it sat uncovered on the bench while he did other jobs on other parts from other cars( this is one of the reasons why i,m now doing the rebuild myself), i,want to make sure there,s nothing in it before fitting, can i used brake cleaner and then soak in oil again.
thanks for any help Rik...

Since you have the engine apart it might be a good idea to do
the oil bypass mod and install a later oil pump. andy |

Depending on condition $75-$400. The one you'd want is the 77-83 4 rib pump
without the integrated sump screen. Henry at Supertec can modify a pump for higher flow and when they come back they are like brand new. andy |

Hi, at the risk of sounding like a dummy, is it possible for Henry to mod the oil pump that come in the 2.7 for high flow?

He does, but the ratio of scavenge to pressure changed with the later
oil pumps which is why you match the later pump to the oil bypass mod. You best give Henry a call and he'll advise you on what to do exactly. andy |
