Somebody has installed a set of the early SWB rocker arms from a 2,0 liter engine in your car. They are forged and the rub face has a hard chrome coating on it, that is what you are seeing.

They have a slightly higher rocker ratio than the later cast ones, they are lighter, but they also are so strong that if you over-rev the engine, they will not break when the pistons hit the valves, probably leading to bent rods or worse damage. The later cast rockers usually break when this happens, which can minimize the economic cost of rebuilding the engine.

It IS a 2.0l motor.. 1969. So is the cratering factory? Or were they reworked?
