Considering 79 3.0 install
 

My 73 barn find came has a mystery 69 2.0 with Webers. It runs very well for a car stored for 10 years, but I came across a 79 ROW 3.0 complete motor LESS induction and exhaust that I can get for $2200. Here is the info as listed on it:

I will include the Bosch CDI, oem coil, and brain (comp)
Engine number: 6399095.
Engine type: 930/13 (for sportomatic)
The heads have matching numbers: 901.105.111.1R
This was removed from a European (ROW) model 1979 Porsche 911
The engine was running with good compression on all cylinders (see pics) when pulled.
~130 to ~140 range
Small oil leak on drivers side valve cover area.
True miles of engine unknown however it ran strong for me.


My plan would be to move over the Webers (after rebuild and rejet for the 3.0) and the exchangers from my 2.0.

Questions:
Compression seems a little low...any thoughts on that

Oil cooling: will I need to run lines and a cooler up to the front

Just bolting on the Webers and early exchangers, any HP gain? how much over the 180?

Rebuild possibilities: What would you do to get an honest 210 hp out of it?

There is a nice set of 3.0 9.8:1 pistons and cyls on the FS forum for $600!! Though the pistons are CIS that should get you fairly close to the 210 and its a great price! Are the webers sized well for the 3.0? Or are they too small? Same q's with the early exhaust.

I would prefer a cooler up front on any aircooled engine just for peace of mind. I would expect you would NEED one on a 3.0 though.

Costs aside, take the 3.0 to 3.2SS with cams and pistons to suite your webers. Add a nice free exhaust and I think you might push close to 250, no? My experience is short here, so others may have a more accurate hp range.

All costs aside... add EFI w/ ITBs and I'm sure you will have a lot of fun!

130-140 psi is normal for a 3.0L with 8.5:1 CR pistons , which the 78-79 have.

euro911sc, where did you see 9.8:1 P&C's for $600.00
there is a set for $2000.00, but that is too much.
