Which brand valves to buy?
I wonder if anyone could advise regarding different brands of valves on the market?
I'm re-building a 2.2s engine and it looks like I need to replace all valves, guides & springs for the heads. Question is this; there is a huge difference in price (3x) between "Intervalves" and "OEM" valves. Pelican rates the Intervalves as 'excellent' but should I go the extra mile (or 3) and splash out on the OEM? Its the difference between $600 and $1800 and I'm trying to get a view with regard to value for money and / or long-term peace of mind. Thanks for your consideration. |

I do know all the ATE brand valves are expensive but the exhaust are suposed to be sodium filled for whatever reason.
. Hard to believe all your valves are out of spec though. If any were inspec, I would use them and just replace the defective ones because you can loose one at anytime, new or used. I have to believe youre not getting better quality control in a product that has been in production for 40 years so I would go with the Pelican recommended and save or spend the money else where in the build. valves
The intervalves are a very good quality and in my opinion better than the TRW/OEM replacements, for stock size replacement I use the intervalves. for big valves we use Ferrea, Del West, Manley
