3.2 engine build

I ve never given it much thought about taking pictures of a 911 build. Some of the guys stop by and take a few for THE BOOK or want to see how its coming.
This is 3.2, std/std crank, new bearings, chains, ramps, rod bolts, nuts, Mahle P/C's, glaze broke with new rings, heads with all guides replaced.
I use the build style of sub-assembly so the heads are completely prebuilt, much like building the crank and the pistons are pre=assembled.

What's that engine going in when done?!

Flat6pac 10-05-2009 06:06 AM

It will be for sale and I told it that there could be a nice home waiting for it in a red Targa in Washington DC

Looks good. Don't forget the adell clamps for the chain tensioner oil pressure lines. I didn't see them from the angle of the picures. The lines will break in time without them.

onboost 10-18-2009 07:01 AM

Doubt he'll forget those... my God he's done enough of these over the years! ;)

Bruce.. don't need one of these for the Targa, that o'l 3.0 is just fine..uh, once we get that CIS sorted.

If the timing had been right, it would've been nice to catch you on the front of this build and a couple special items that would have made it perfect for one of the other cars here!

What distributor is that with no adjustment? I thought those were only used on the EZ69 engines since the timing is digitally mapped.

Just curious and still trying to learn...

Thats an 85 3.2. The

Flat6pac 10-18-2009 10:27 AM

Thats am 85 3.2, The DME does all the mapping of the X,Y, Z coordinates with the engine sensors. The advance is available in the distributor but the spark control is in the brain.

Nice lil ;) motor coming together. I like the intake, with harnesses, nice (anodized finish) fuel rails, ICV looking pretty good. The rubber lines, sensors, micro switches, injectors can all be seen when the motor is out and illustrative.

Are you going to post on the cam timing process?

That is Beautiful! Maybe, one day my 3.2 I am working on will look like that.

Hi Bruce, I am sure i am to late, but why drop a gas tank. Why not just fish a new brake line next to the tank. I try not to drop a tank, because usually you end up with more problems. Just a suggesion

Flat6pac 11-13-2009 03:47 AM

And I did endup with more problems. I didnt want to have 6 foot of brake line not retained and just floating. It was suggested and I looked at it.
Thanks,
Bruce

Its been a while and the cold has set in but its in the 40s a couple days and I ve dragged more stuff from the cleaners and did a couple engines along the way and including the muffler on my 930 to one that fits.
I have the muffler now and the cat bypass to be added maybe tonight. but I m still stirring with this.

I have most of the major parts on it so I m going to close this section with this picture and open up the FOR SALE section for this engine. I bought it for the fun of building, been doing it for years as several people on Pelican can attest to, Its good for peace of mind and quiet in a hurried world.
Everyone, thanks for looking while I was building.
