Crank shaft pulley replacement
I need to replace my lower (attached to the crankshaft) pulley. I have gotten the old one off but wondering if there any tricks to putting the new one on while the engine is in the car? (doesn't seem to be much room) or do I need to drop the engine? '85 911

You ll have to remove all the parts off the back of the engine including the AC brackets and engine mount just to get to it.

You don't need to drop the engine. Just put the car on stands and a floor jack under the engine to hold it in place while you remove all the stuff thats between you and the pulley. Mainly the engine mount. If you put the car in gear and have a helper step on the brakes you can get good torque on the pulley bolt.
