Heat in mid year (74) with a Varioram

Hey all-

I'm trying to figure out how to get heat in my 74 with my, in the near future, 3.6 varioram transplant. I have 993 heater boxes (bischoff) and a stock 993 heater crossover tube (if needed). I'm hoping to work a custom exhaust around the heat crossover tube and use a 964 rs - like heater fan bypass tube (like the one Thom was selling). Couple of questions on this:

1. Can a 964 rs heater fan bypass tube be made to work with a 993 heater crossover tube?

2. If I omitted the 993 heater crossover tube, can I adapt the fan housing to have a vent tube on either side where each side goes to its respective heater box? The reason for possibly going this route would be if there isn't room for the 993 heater crossover tube and a tidy exhaust.

Thanks-
Craig Backer

Craig,

I've attached a pic of something we fabricated to do just that: feed air to each heat exchanger,....

Works very well and you can make one very easily.

Just food for thought.

Thanks Steve. Are those two hoses coming off a "y" which is on the side of the shroud?

Do you have a closeup of the Y piece and/or more details on what the Y piece actually is?

Thanks!

Also wondering if an early fan shroud with lower left/right heater ducts could be used on a varioram engine.
