Piston rings, wrist pin & rod bush

Up date in post 3

Looking at the end gap of the used (old) rings (goetze)
#3 end gap = 0.016"
#2 end gap = 0.026"
#1 end gap = 0.022" (oil ring)
While still within spec of wear limits no.s 1 & 2 are beyond new limits.
The new rings (goetze) are not much better
#3 = 0.016"
#2 = 0.024"
#1 = 0.017"
Is this acceptable? I'm thinking of just reusing the old rings. I did see some old post about this problem with goetze rings and recommendation was to purchase these from the dealer. Both the new and old rings were bought from after market suppliers. Can I expect the dealer supplied ring to be better? There was a big cost difference, $130 after market, $320 dealer.

On the wrist pin and the rod bushing.
The wrist pin slides in the piston and can be spun with fingers. Fit is much tighter in the rod brass bushing, once slid in it is tight and take a little muscle to spin. The bushing looks good and I can see the honing marks, they were replaced 10 years ago 40,000 miles. Sound like the bushing needs to be honed out?

I bought one set (piston) of rings from a Porsche dealer to see how they would match up to the OEM ones sold by the vendors.

#3 end gap = .016" = 0.41mm
#2 end gap = .022" = 0.56mm
#1 end gap = .018" = 0.46mm

Basically the same gap as the ones from the vendor, shown in first post. My piston / cylinder set was checked by a shop and they are good. The rings as sold by the vendor come in goetze paper wrap, from the dealer the same wrap in a cardboard box. Now the seal on the paper wrap in the dealer box was broken so they've been in someones hands, would OEM rings and the ones sold by Porsche have any different marking other than the cardboard box? Should I exspect a better end gap from the factory?

Garage
4sd911,
My Technical Data Without Guesswork book for the 1989-1994 cars lists the end gap for all three rings (new) as the same at 0.15 +/- 0.3mm. Also, the wear limit is 0.8mm for the top and middle and 1.0mm for the oil control ring.

What year is your car?

Good Luck,
Mark

I forgot it's a '74 2.7, also I'm measuring in inches. The spec's are within used tolerances but not for new.

Talked to the dealer today about the seal on the paper wrap to rings being broken and he told me that they opened them to make sure they weren't broken. So it looks like the end gap I'm getting is going to be the best I can get.
