911sc pulley bolt really tight, need advise

Hi All,

I am rebuilding my 78 911 sc and can,t get the pulley bolt off. The egine is all apart so the crank is out with pulley on it. I used my impact wrench but no luck!!! I know it is lefty loosy, but why is it so tight. I was thinking to put the flywheel bolts on (at least 2) and use a prybar to hlod the crank steady while I use a breaker bar on the bolt, does sound reasonable, I don't was to break the any bolts!!!! Need you imput on this. Thanks, Farman

I had exactly the same experience when tearing my engine down. Took the crank and my own socket to the closest garage (happened to be a quickie lube place) and they zipped it off with their impact wrench. My compressor and wrench were just not up to the task.

When you get the bolt off, check out the underside of the head and you will see why it is so difficult to remove.

Good luck.
