Resealing and studding a 3.2

The newest of treats is to see what others have done when you open an engine.
This had a broken stud but lots of sealants that didnt belong. Lots of sealant on the cam chain boxes, held like glue, regular nuts where nylocs belong.

Wow! Amazing to me what owners or mechanics do to these engines. Steel studs going back in place of those Dilavar studs?

Flat6pac 11-12-2009 03:18 AM

Steel going back on the bottom but I do it after putting the P/C s because its much easier to place the snap rings on the pistons.
Did you notice the single 993 dilivar in the picture?

Bruce,
Can I rent that pressure tester for a week? Thanks, Mark

We want the crank to survive, I would rather loose a cam than a crank and all that goes with it when it happens, this is interesting the reducer to the cam oil bar.

Valve job, the heads are back from the shop. I was suprised as the engine had 2 broken studs over its life and the heads didnt need a flycut to square up with.
The case cleaned well, inside and out.

This was a pretty good couple days, blew every nook and cranny out and started putting it back together.

Im trying to get as much off the floor as I can. The more off the floor the more complete it becomes. I had some fun today with the studs..but the exhaust is located and locked down.
The injection isnt pretty yet as the injectors are out being cleaned so all the rails are hanging loose.

Bruce,

Where did you send your injectors for refurbishment?

Leakproof.

Flat6pac 11-26-2009 10:49 AM

The injectors came back Wednesday for the evening. Once installed I started taking things off the pile and sticking them back on.
I have to put it back on the table as front right sheet metal and clutch assembly has to be put back in place.
Still have to clean the fan and housing but my compressor is too small even for a small cabinet.

I needed the engine off the engine stand and on the table so I could get the clutch and front of the engine back together.
Flywheel, clutch pkg, bell studs replaced, sensor pickup dialed in to .8..
Once I get the fan cleaned, this will be ready to go home

:)Re: the phone conversation..
I was wrong about the one you commented on. Your comment was on the one in the background.
This is the finished product from the boxes you brought here.
Enjoy the looking,
Bruce
