Chain tensioner idler gear changes
I am rebuilding a '79 SC 3.0 which had been sitting for a number of years. This engine had been updated to oil pressure fed chain tensioners and later type tensioner arms (for sprocket alignment).
One of the idler gears and shaft are quite worn out, while the opposite idler is in seemingly good order. I have been looking at replacement parts and the shaft is straight forward but the idler gears looks to have changed to a bushed version with holes around the wheel. The type currently fitted are steel on steel, no bushing present. Is it advised to update both sprocket/ idler wheels to the bushed version? What year ranges used this non-bushed idler gear? Thanks! ![]()

Yes, though not the prettiest, I can make out the cup pointing up in the disassembly photos.
Thanks,
