911L Pistons

I am having some troubles installing my pistons and cylinders. As you can see in the pic below the 911L piston uses an oil ring mounted below the wrist pin, and this is what's giving me trouble. On my bench I put the piston in the cylinder and then take the Assembly over and install the wrist pin easy enough. Now the hard part I can get my snap on ring compressor on the oil ring but once I slide the cylinder down over the ring there is no space to remove the compressor. If i get it removed the cylinder moves and the oil ring is back out. I also tried on the of the band clamp compressors with no luck. Any ideas, I am ready just to use a smooth hose clamp?

The hose band will move out of the way and then you can undo it.
There is several of the 60s that had the lower oil control ring and that was my way of working with it. I have the band and lock pliars but its too difficult to remove around the studs.

Thanks Bruce! I just found a pic in my old Auto Press book showing a very narrow ring compressor never saw one that thin before.
