How to Mark KS Cylinders that are now Nickies
The cylinders I got with my all re-done but disassembled 3.2 have all been bored and re-plated by US Chrome. From memory I was told that US Chrome bores it oversize and then plates in a thick lining of Nickisil.
Here's the fun part, from the outside these cylinders just appear like 5 normal KS Alusil cylinders plus one Mahle Nicksil cylinder. Inside where it matters, they are all the same. (bore, material, cylinder height) I would worry about this apparent mismatch if I were looking at the engine from an outsiders viewpoint. What would you do, if anything at all, to possibly mark the Cylinders to indicate they were re-plated? Here's my engine rebuild thread: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/911-engine-rebuilding-forum/515477-richards-3-2l-total-rebuild.html Thanks, Richard |
I'd keep the receipt from US Chrome, and avoid taking any kind of punch to the cylinder.
