oversized main bearings for ??2.4 in case
 
i have a 2.4 1973 case which has to be line bored over the first standard boring. where do i find over sized main bearing in case 2 thousands over standard bore. please i need help. anyone know who i can call for help or main bearings.john

A better approach is have the case re-sized. A small amount is milled off of each mate face and then the case bores are restored to standard size allowing you to use the std bearings.

Only the dealer sells line bored bearings. A few shops will do as Tom states, Competition Engineering and I think Ollies.

Sorry to hear that. Oversized bearings are actually more expensive than resizing the case, these days. Resizing entails shaving the case halves by the tiniest bit, then line-boring the case to for standard bearings.

Sounds like your machinist did the second step...first. Did you have a VW shop do it? Oversized bearing for VWs are cheap, so they line bore w/o resizing all the time. Sadly, not the same for 911s.

Pelican has undersized, but not oversized...not cheap

Tom is right; thats the right way to do this. This also corrects the slight mis-alignment that magnesium cases have after disassembly.
