piston to cylinder clearance
I have a set of 911S 80.5mm Mahle pistons to go with my
80mm biral cylinders (to be resized.) What clearance should I go for. Tech specs for 67S show minimum clearance at 0.45mm but 68S has 0.35mm. andy |

Those numbers are too big by about 10 times.

Andy, you are right.
But the question still stands, should I be going for 0.045mm clearance or 0.035mm clearance or more or less. I can size them anywhere I want given that the pistons are about 0.5mm larger than the bore at this point. andy |

I like .40mm or .0015 for Mahle forged pistons.

I believe the wear limit is .004 inches. Personally I like to set them to .002 inches if I have the choice. I don't have the experience of Steve however.
